Rachel is the proud owner of four rescue dogs who really keep her on her toes! Some people might think that Rachel is a little bit bonkers having so many dogs, but she couldn’t imagine life without them!

Owain, one of Rachel’s dogs was born profoundly deaf – she communicates with him through sign language, they have developed a repertoire of over 50 hand signals that Owain understands. No-one realises that Owain is deaf until it’s pointed out; he lives life to the full and does everything a hearing dog can do! You might spot Rachel and Owain at a dog show near you, doing demonstrations on behalf of the Deaf Dog Network.

 

 

 

 

Rachel and her dogs have been competing at Flyball for the last 6 years, they race nation wide, with a British Flyball Association team based on the Fylde Coast. Rachel is one of the trainers for the new dogs and handlers joining the team. If you’ve never heard of Flyball, take a look at this video – it’s a fast, skillful and high octane dog relay race – expect lots of excited, barking and speedy dogs – don’t blink or you’ll miss it!

 

 

 

Rachel has been a volunteer with a local dog rescue for several years… Homeless Hounds, based in Thornton Cleveleys, save stray and abandoned dogs from Lancashire Council Pounds from being euthanised.

Rachel started by going up to the kennels to help with dog walking and became more involved with the charity over the years, throwing herself into fostering, dog assessments, adoption home checks, training advice for adopting families, fundraising, awareness events, kennel cover, website maintenance and social media updates.

Rachel is a keen walker with her own dogs. You might spot her out and about …. anywhere from the West Pennine Moors to Astley Park, the Lake District Fells to Cuerden Valley, her dogs really do keep her moving, whatever the weather!

Rachel grew up in Euxton and has lived in Whittle-le-Woods most of her adult life, apart from her University years in Buckinghamshire. Rachel knows dozens of the best walks in the area and is aware of various risks or hiccups brought about by weather, farming and local council Dog Control Orders etc.

 

 

 

Rachel prides herself on her commitment to the dogs in her care, her reliability and excellent track record.

Since establishing Dog-Almighty in 2007, Rachel has walked a wide variety of dogs, from the smallest of breeds, to the largest; reserved dogs, goofy dogs, graceful dogs, working dogs, convalescing dogs, mud loving dogs, nervous dogs, fast dogs, obsessive dogs, older dogs, reactive dogs, intelligent dogs and puppies…. every single one is treated with the same level of love and attention that Rachel extends to her own dogs.
